The 2004 US Taekwondo Nationals are quickly approaching! Each
year the Nationals are really four tournaments in one: the Senior
Nationals, the Ultra Senior Nationals, the Jr. Blackbelt Festival,
and the Colorbelt Extravaganza. This basically means there's a place
for all adults, colorbelts and above, to compete, as well as junior
blackbelts (14 to 17 years old). This year's Nationals are in
Colorado Springs, Colorado from November 3 to 7th, 2004. An
information packet and entry form are available at www.ustu.org.
Registration is also online. You must register no later than
September 24, 2004.
Oregon State Team workouts are now
underway. We meet every other Sunday, 3-5 PM, at the corner of Hall
and Allen in Beaverton. if you are planning to go to Nationals, you
are automatically on this year's Oregon State Team (no qualifying
necessary) so please plan on coming to the State Team
workouts.
State Team Warm-ups are available through the Team
Director, Master Foulke, at (360) 576-1092 or atkiau@aol.com. For
blackbelts who attended this year's Oregon State Championships,
warm-ups are at no cost. For all others, State Team Warm-ups are
$60.00 payable to Oregon State Taekwondo Association. Please make
sure you contact Master Foulke to place your order and get the size
you wish. This year, players may wear any brand of authorized dobuk
they desire. We ask that you silk screen or embroider OREGON on the
tail of your dobuk in 4 inch black letters. We are proud of our
Oregon Team and should be -- last year we took a team of 35 players
to the Nationals and brought back 32 medals!
